Combat Sambo: heelhook/toehold from guard
this technique goes in conjunction with the drill i posted: Reverse Leg Control Drill.
this, and other variations on this type of move, are my favorite techniques for a couple of reasons. mainly because if i commit myself to the position of leg control and do not worry about the guard pass then its quite easy to get, and confusing for your opponent.
the key is to keep going for it even when you think he is going to pass. keep your butt in the air to keep him off of your chest, and once you get the leg DONT LET GO!

the guard

the hook

the spin

the sweep

the finish
you need one foot on his hip to stop him from advancing, and the other foot hooked under his knee.
turn on your back toward the leg you have hooked with your foot and underhook it.
spin on your back toward his leg. keep your feet and butt high to stop him from putting his weight down on your chest. force your foot that was hooked deep through his legs and bring your other foot to the outside of his leg.
once you have his knee firmly between your legs and his shin close to your body, turn back into him to break his posture and knock him off balance.
your inside foot is in danger so triangle your legs to keep it safe. now finish with a heel hook, or my favorite... the toe hold.

This is the entry i use when in open gaurd lol... right on Reilly!
Thanks Reilly. I like how you could go for the kneebar and flow to this if they defended by trying to kneel into it.
