Dennis Hallman's "Hopscotch Arm Pin"

In continuation of Dennis Hallman's Hopscotch series, Dennis shows a way to re-position with an Arm pin when your opponent tries to reach under one of your legs for an escape.

Dennis Hallman's "Hopscotch" Series:
Hopscotch Triangle
Hopscotch Arm Pin
Hopscotch Arm Bar
Hopscotch RNC
Hopscotch Knee Reposition

  • Step 1
  • Dennis is in the mount position punching his stand-in opponent, Landon Showalter
  • Step 2
  • Dennis puts both of his hands on Landon's chest, pushes backwards and hops to both feet. Dennis ends up by sitting on Landon.
  • Step 3
  • From the "Hopscotch" position, Dennis continues to punch Landon.
  • Step 4
  • Landon reaches his right arm under Dennis's left leg in an effort to escape.
  • Step 5
  • Dennis shifts his weight and pinches Landon's right arm in between behind his left knee.

Already posted this comment on the hopscotch triangle, but it got bumped down so...
Anyone know the weight distribution on the hopscotch position? Is all your weight on your butt, or is it distributed equally between your feet and butt...or is it all on the feet?

I'm not 100%, but I think your weight is distributed between your feet and butt, kinda like the way that Asian people sit. (No racist intentions, this is just the way alot of Asian's squat, very Flexible)

I think Chaz means a Horse Stance.

yeah i was thinking the same thing, breeze. though a good horse stance isnt supposed to go lower than a 90 degree angle between the back of the leg and the calf.
either way, this kind of wait distribution take some powerful leg strength and endurance to keep held for more than a few seconds.

BUAHAHA...looks gangstah there...
but im worried about the groin if this happens on street...

The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

What if they grab both your ankles so you can't advance or balance out, then hook their feet under your armpit and toss you back with their legs? It seems like sitting high and far back, they'd be able to do that much easier.

It looks pretty tight for real fighting where you can distract with strikes, but I wouldn't use it in pure grappling.

Shake and Bake!

If they try to reverse you, you don't let them. It is kind of a requirement that you don't suck to use this position.
