Flying Side Choke from an Arm Drag
this is a fun move off of an arm drag. if you are already good at arm drags, its another option to add to your arsenal. if you are not good at arm drags, then this one will be hard to hit because you really need to pull them deep in order to open up their armpit for the choke, so i suggest really working your arm drag game thoroughly before working this in.
I have personally been working on taking the dynamic transitions from sambo and finding a way to keep some of that flavor in my no-gi grappling. because there is no jacket, rolling kneebars and flying armbars are not as easy (though still doable) but there are other ways to hit the ground with a sub in hand if you experiment.
this is one.

set up choke step 1

jump

finish the choke
someone posts their hand on your head or shoulder
use your nearest hand to clear it to the outside
reach your other hand across and grab the tricep and drag his arm across your body
reach your lead hand under his armpit up and around his neck.
bring your other arm over his head and place it on his back as you grab that bicep with the hand that went underneath, setting up the side choke position.
jump your feet through and fall toward your back.
flip him over onto his back.
finish the choke... if you do this in competition then everyone will know your 1337.

This is awesome! I love doing arm drags, so I would definitely like to have this in my arsenal.

nice. have you tried this off the Russian tie.
pretty sweet...
gibb, i have not tried this off of a russian but i would imagine it would work similarly.
Reilly, mancrush ;p I love this stuff man.
I'm not sure if we have it here, but I know a wrestling tech that's got a similar take down; from a tie-up you have control of their right arm at the elbow, step across (into their armpit), bridge as you shoot your right arm up under that armpit and bridge back towards your right shoulder (their other foot). (almost identical to step 2 above, just far arm).
Hard to explain, but you end with the arm and take head/arm, side-control, or go knee on chest armbar set up.
Point was though, the mechanics of it are the same as this, just far arm instead of the near arm/head/darce.
Very cool! Seriously awesome Reilly, thanks man!
I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu

gahh! The hold line didn't go through. Oh well, can only st& so much 1337
ok, someone explain the 1337 to me...
haha chaz.
'1337' is a really nerdy way of saying 'Leet,' which, in turn, is a really nerdy way of saying 'elite.'
It's also anearly builiten board language, you basically try to replace real letters with numbers and symbols and such.
I have never thought of grabbing a darce off of that.

Added it to my Iphone heh, awesome.
Anyone know the name of the armdrag takedown that's similar?
One of our pro guys with a heavy wrestling background has worked with me on it quite a bit.

Tried it at training tonight, sooo smooth. I think I need to emphasize the arm drag though, really gets the weight/torso over so you can get the D'Arce position. After that, it's just gravy and you never lose control or put yourself into a disadvantageous position.
Sweet tech, thanks again Reilly!

hard sparring session is like a cold shower in a warm day. It feels good.

I tried this last night....works really well. Thanks Reilly, but you are right. You need to be good at the armdrag first!
Another great technique Reilly
You know... I was doing it like above, but I'm better at my right arm drag heh. I'll give that a few tries and see if it doesn't get the mechanics better (then drill the crap out of my arm drags heh).

Just sick... Thanks for yet another awesome tech Reilly.
Yeah, Dave, I found that arm drags are a lot like lateral drops/throws; in that it's all about the setup and selling it.
Speaking of which, this reminds me of an arm drag, turned quasi lateral drop, turned choke. Sweet montage.

Reilly taught us this last night love it. I prefer just to drop to ground and bridge right away cause the pressure from dropping will make him almost tap right away. Reilly man need to comeback soon.
Magic.
Nice technique Reilly
