Goliath Leg Lock

The Goliath Leg Lock is a great submission when an opponent is standing over you in the up/down position. This same submission can be attacked from many different angles.

  • Step 1
  • Kim starts with her feet inside my knees. Kim's hands are up protecting her face.
  • Step 2
  • Kim wraps her left arm around my right leg as she weaves her left leg around my right leg to my right hip.
  • Step 3
  • Kim turns to her right, driving her left thigh into the back of my right knee.
  • Step 4
  • Kim pushes her right foot against the back of my left knee.
  • Step 5
  • Once my base is broken, Kim pushes me to the mat.
  • Step 6
  • Kim scoots in, forcing her left thigh into the back of my knee. At the same time, Kim slides her left instep under my left knee. Kim can block my left leg with her right foot to help insert her left foot.
  • Step 7
  • Kim grabs her right wrist with her left hand as she locks her right hand on my right shin. Kim also steps over my left leg with her right foot to prevent me from rolling.
  • Step 8
  • Kim finishes the lock by driving her left knee to the mat, arching her hips into my shin, and leaning back with her shoulders.

The way Kim looks away (or looks back), key point on any achilles lock.

yeh nice lock i prefer the heel hook version same set up but just get ur knee up higher and ur foot on the hip so u turn opp around on the way down then ur legs control and ur hands r free for any foot lock

only talk when walking is not enough
only hold when talking is not enough
only hurt when holding is not enough
only maim when hurting is not enough
only kill when maming is not enough

YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE

HaHa..that teaches the opponent not to stomp on someone at the bottom...

The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

This might be me but ive seen people try a leg lock on a standing opponent and it seems like it gives them room to just turn out...especially with the achilles lock

this is one of my go to moves with high %. thanks!

as madmike said think twice b4 u stomp next time around

It's all a puzzle, isn't it, Joseph? Like a game of chess, perhaps. The pieces move, apparently aimlessly, but always towards one single objective: to kill the king. But who is the king in this game, Joseph? That is the question you must ask yourself.

I love Kim Smile

hard sparring session is like a cold shower in a warm day. It feels good.

got to know it.

and for anyone who says that turning will get you out of this; turning doesn't work against a toe-hold. if your oponent knows how to do a correct toe hold, then if you spin to escape the heelhook you are going to break your own ankle against a toe hold.

i hate to say it, but on more then one occasion have i been competing and someone tried to spin out of this type of leg lock and really hurt themselves when i switched to a toe hold.

I had my guard passed a lot when I try this, but when it works it's sweet. My instructor makes a big deal out of getting your hips/butt way off the ground when u lock up the leg.
