Knee Lever Sweep

This is one of those techniques that seems tricky - but with some practice it may just become one of your favorite reversals

  • Step 1
  • I have the right underhook and my right foot hooked into Eddie's thigh
  • Step 2
  • My left hand controls Eddie's arm and my left leg is on the mat next to Eddie's knee
  • Step 3
  • Eddie steps over my left leg in an attempt to pass, or I could make him step by feinting the sweep to my left
  • Step 4
  • with mt left arm, I underhook Eddie's right leg as I fall back and lift Eddie on top of me with my right leg. I then quickly reach and grab Eddie's left ankle with my right hand (see next photo)
  • Step 5
  • Here's the same technique from the other side - notice my right shin is pressed into the back of Eddie's left knee
  • Step 6
  • I point my right knee forward into Eddie's knee and pull his foot back as I use the momentum of the knee push and the weight of Eddie falling back to sit up
  • Step 7
  • I continue to press my right knee to the mat as I maintain control of Eddie's right leg
  • Step 8
  • I get the left underhook and cover Eddie, keeping his leg trapped to the mat with my right shin
  • Step 9
  • I kick my left leg out...
  • Step 10
  • and take side control.

Niffty!!

looks like the escape that was used in that judo video. Thanks for this technique, it clears up some aspects of it I hadn't got.

this works good I figured this one out using my enginuity while in practice

Neat. Seems like an ass kicker.

So the rubber didn't go as planned. Oh well, it's only $30.

Great technique!

The technique looks like a strong variation grom the elbow escape from mount.

"Tap snap or nap." -The submission fighters moddo and threat, but most of all its our way of life.

This is great just what I needed. I cant wait to try this out. Thanks

Snap or tap your choice!

Nice one, coach Chaz where would you go if Eddie dropped his hips and posted with the arm to your roll side, would this still work or would you have to switch to another move?

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

it is difficult to post a block once the knee is inserted all the way (step 5),
however if he does post and block at the sweep attempt - then my left leg is free to kick over his right hip in a leg lock attack on his right leg

Fire cat. If I am reading the question correctly. It is difficult for the person to block when the knee is inserted but you could just slide in your left knee quickly or bring your left leg over switching your base in a reverse position and then drive into a cross body. Also, it is usually easy to spin into a heel hook if your knee goes through too far. I do it all of the time.

This is a cool technique, and exactly the kind of thing I need. I'm not a strong guy, so sneakiness and leverage works better for me than power. Thanks for the post.

cool. thanks.

Do I wanna fight?
