Here Michael demonstrates the Leg on Shoulder Guard Pass

  • Step 1
  • Having uncrossed his opponent's ankles, Michael pins the right leg to the ground.
  • Step 2
  • Reaching underneath his opponent's left leg, Michael grips the back of the opponent's neck and drives his weight froward while keeping his hips down and head up.
  • Step 3
  • Keeping the weight on his opponent's upper chest and hamstring, Michael walks around to the side.
  • Step 4
  • Michael pushes his chest forward to clear the leg and establishes side control.

Gotta know it.

In step one he could have taken side mount easily, but chose to back door him and take weak side mount. NICE!

I like to hook the top of the thigh and swing them over with a pry bar style and take the back with this one

i dunno. step one looks a bit scary, if ur opponent is good and fast enough. left leg across the face and BAM! armbar.

天下無難事,只怕有心人

that left arm placement in step 1 is just asking for trouble

It is not necessary to give everything all the time.
Instead we must realise the critical moments and give it all then.

How do you transition from step 1 to step 2. Doesn't look easy.

so long as you have enough weight on the knee and hips, triangle/armbars are not an issue. grab the pants at the knee as a safeguard against the triangle, and just keep proper posture and you'll be fine. this is a basic pass everyone should know.

if you wanna be crafty, you can give black enough room to post his left arm on your hip when you go to pass. when black does this white can swing his right leg around and over/across blacks head(and the posting arm) and sit back into a kneebar.

sweet

the human body is only as strong as its weakest link.

This is a good alternative to the knee on leg.

This is one of my favorite passes.

Tujunga makes an excellent point.

It seems like most people instinctively know how to defend the knee-on-inner-thing move. This problem is compounded in someone who has actually practiced martial arts. This one is harder to defend because the opponent gives you his back. Even if he's on his side, you can get one hook in and work into a back mount.
