Otto Olson's "Superman"

Otto Olson first made news with his outstanding wrestling career. He then made the transition to MMA and submissions. In his MMA fights, Otto has earned a record of 4-1 with all of his wins by submission. In submission wrestling, Otto made his debut at ADCC Brazil where he burned through his first three opponents: Brazilian Champ, Daniel Morales; Jiu-Jitsu Superstar, Terre; and Olympic medalist, Chris Brown.

Here Otto demonstrates his favorite takedown, which he calls the "Superman."

  • Step 1
  • Otto ties up with Jason.
  • Step 2
  • Otto pulls Jason to his right as he pushes Jason's right arm in front of his body and drops his head on top of Jason's right shoulder. During this motion, Otto begins to shoot his right leg forward.
  • Step 3
  • Otto penetrates his right leg behind Jason's right leg, stepping behind the ankle. Otto changes his elevation and punches his right shoulder deep into Jason's mid-section. Otto's left hand grabs behind Jason's right knee.
  • Step 4
  • Otto shoots his right foot backwards and punches his shoulder forward driving Jason to the mat.
  • Step 5
  • Otto kicks out his right foot.
  • Step 6
  • Otto slides his right foot inside his left knee, sure to keep the knee high and tight to Jason's right armpit.
  • Step 7
  • Otto spins to side control.

Great Takedown....

Ko uchi gake, great throw !
Like all leg techniques, it requires speed, timing, and most of all a good balance.

The only real problem is that you'll always end up in a half guard !

It's a risk that I use to take a lot, because I usually use this throw as a surprise attack, and I only do that against skilled opponent Wink

Anyway great technique

Seems excellent.

Im modifying it to a wrestling move right now. Laughing out loud

So the rubber didn't go as planned. Oh well, it's only $30.

awesome takedown...

It's the one you DON'T see that hurts the most.

ohhh...the judo guys have another version of this superman...a rolling one..
its called ko uchi makikomi (minor inner wrap-around)
u can set it up by faking a shoulder throw, execute the move, and finish it with a scarf hold...

The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

This looks more like a trip than a throw guys... but then again, i'm a wrestler not a Judoka.

nice takedown
