Prayer Choke

Here is a great variation of the front choke, it's one of those moves that I picked up somewhere, forgot about and am now re-discovering. Try it out and let me know what you think.

I am in the top sprawl position on Billy
as I block Billy's right arm with my left palm, I reach my right arm deep under Billy's throat. I try to get my right elbow under Billy's chin.
Here, you can see my right arm is in deep on the choke position
I place my left palm over my right fist.
Close up of the hand position
I finish the choke by flexing my arm and pushing my right thumb to my right shoulder as I rotate my right elbow to my left.

Great choke! I usually lock it in like a RNC, since the elbow is right there in step 3.

It has to be really strong to make this and neck of the opponent has to be not strong....but I like it.

chaz i tried this and he rolled to quick. I think I missed blocking the arm in hindsight, but it worked really well because I was able to go straight to a north/south/Monson.

I also have luck with this standing....
I like something similar.. keep that "meatball" grip (hand on fist) and circle out to the right, then bring your left elbow into your chest and pop it up on the back of his head and pressing down.
I used it live Monday, worked perfect!
I was stopping a shot and the guy left the guillotine open. Got the guillotine, arm in, then re-adjusted with no arm.
I find sometimes it's hard to keep a ton of pressure on guillotines as it saps the crap out of your arms.
What I found once I adjusted to the prayer version, more torque on the technique and he tapped quickly.

I used the prayer choke but the Rear Naked variation tonight and it worked well as a good alternative grip.
I varied it between the standard, one-handed Chaz Naked choke, and this grip (all depending on them fighting the other hand etc). Nice grip and it really tightens things up!

Dave, I have used it from back, but I normally transition to the RNC
Sweet thanks Chaz. I was playing around with alternate endings and the regular one, one-handed, and that one were the three I toyed with. I like how this one increases the pressure on the carotid arteries really quick.

I totally shocked a wrestler with this move a couple weeks ago, just while messing around. He loved it.

Tried this and the new posted version (prayer choke from top sprawl) both worked well. I will be using these often!
