Side Ride Flow

Here is a fun Lockflow (submission chain) from the side ride position. In the video I break down the flow, and then add some extra hints and tips after. Enjoy.

  • Step 1
  • I have Chris in the side ride position. My left hand is controlling Chris's left shin
  • Step 2
  • I put my right arm under Chris's chin and grip his left shoulder
  • Step 3
  • Using the crossface position, I lift Chris's head up - exposing his right arm
  • Step 4
  • With his right arm exposed, I step my right foot infront of Chris's right arm
  • Step 5
  • I take my right hand and grip Chris's right wrist, as I begin to wrap his forearm around my right shin
  • Step 6
  • I reach my left hand past Chris's head and get a double grip on the Chris's right wrist. I drive my right knee downward as I pull on the wrist to finish the submission.
  • Step 7
  • After finishing the bicep slicer, I reach my left hand over Chris's back and reach under his armpit and grab CHris's left wrist.
  • Step 8
  • I slide my right ankle down towards the end of Chris's right wrist
  • Step 9
  • I sprawl my hips back as I pull upward on my right foot
  • Step 10
  • I keep dropping my hips down to get the armbat submission.
  • Step 11
  • I bring my left foot under my right foot, and pass Chris's arm to my left knee-pit.
  • Step 12
  • I wrap my right leg around my left foot and trap Chris's right arm. I rest my left side on Chris's back and start looking for the next technique...
  • Step 13
  • I reach my right hand under Chris's neck and grip his left shoulder
  • Step 14
  • Keeping my weight on Chris's head, I pull up on my right elbow to get the choke.
  • Step 15
  • For the next move, I bring my body to the near side of Chris's head and begin to reach my left arm inbetween Chris's legs
  • Step 16
  • Looking away from Chris, I reach inbetween Chris's legs and grab the inside of his near thigh
  • another angle
  • here is another angle of the leg grab
  • Step 17
  • I roll over my left shoulder as I pull my legs against Chris's right shoulder
  • Step 18
  • I keep rolling as I apply pressure to Chris's arm with my legs
  • Step 19
  • My grip on Chris's leg as allowed my to ride with the roll, Once the roll is finished, I keep a tight grip on Chris's leg
  • Step 10
  • I reach my right arm around Chris's leg
  • Step 21
  • I reach my left arm under Chris's far armpit
  • Step 22
  • I put my right leg behind me
  • Step 23
  • I lift my hips a few inches off the mat
  • Step 24
  • to finish the flow, and the submission, I use my left foot to pull Chris's right arm underneath my hips.

Thoughts on using the brow ridge to expose the neck? I suggested it to a guy (who was way better and bigger than me) who spent about 3 minutes looking for a RNC on me before giving up.

nice, i like the whole flow, looks like it was based on basic wrestling techniques, can't wait to try it
