The "Six Shooter" - North South Choke

This is a set up and finish for the North/South choke that has been working well for me and for a few of my guys in competition.

I start in the side control position on Brad
I wrap my right arm over Brad's head
as I finish reaching my hand under Brad's head, I point my right thumb upward
I switch my hips to the inside position
Basing my legs and putting all my weight on Brad's chin, I shift my weightonto my back and shoulder on his face to make him look outward.
Lifting my hips off the ground, I "walk" into Brad's head, this allows me to reach my right hand deeper behind Brad's head while getting my right bicep deep into the side of Brad's neck.
After I have my right bicep deep into the side of Brad's neck and my lat deep into the opposite side of Brad's neck, I keep my weight deep and low, and pull my right leg back towards the "sprawl position".
As a bring my right leg back, I reach my left arm deep under my right hand, like I'm reaching back to my right hip
As I reach my left hand under my right, I make sure that both my thumbs are facing the ceiling and my arms are as deep as possible. Once the grip is tight, I clench both my fists.
Once my arms are locked into position, I walk my hips back away from my opponent and flex my right arm and clench my fists to fininsh the Six Shooter.

Between step6 and step 7, Brad freed his arm, right ?
Why is it called " Six Shooter" ? In step 4, with his forearm under the chin, is it possible to Brad to push, bridge and escape ? And last question, is it a choke or/and a cranck? Thank you very much LOCKFLOW, from Libreville Gabon Central Africa. I wish you long long live.

katana, they normally do, If they dont, you can catch them in a reverse side choke. I explain the name in the video, If your transition is slow you can be bumped, I am normally able to base out when they do however. also it's a choke.
I love this choke, but I am curious as to what grip you prefer for this. Gable, S-Clamp, or the Ball and Socket grip.

I can't seem to finish north south chokes. I try at it until I feel like a head cranking douche and move on to the next sub.

Love this one Chaz, I've seen wrestlers sleep from that position (before going north/south, just from that hook). Plus you could threaten going to mount once you switch your hips, lots of options.
I'll try and play with this one in the gym next week and get the feel for it. Digging it!
Btw, a buddy of mine from the mid-Oregon MMA scene texted me that he was playing with the prayer choke and loved it

I love this set up. I use it often for the north-south choke, but usually finish it without the arm in. I will have to play with this finish. I am still unsure about the grip though. You said both thumbs are up? So are you grabbing the opposing wrist?

This is exactly how I set up the RAT or brabo from N/S. Now I have a fall back move in case I miss the arm, thanks Chaz.

Thanks for the explainations. The 6 shooter (no)grip is as original as effective.
I love this choke, when someone is going a good job of protected their arms from the kimura or arm bar, I use the no gi version of this choke and catch them most times! Awesome!

This is Brad from the pics and video... I really like this move a lot. I actually learned it pretty quick! I guess having it explained, while being put in the move helped out too.lol. Thanks to some guys from C3, AMMA and hard work my technique and knowledge of the game is improving daily.

I dont see how the choke works exactly (my inexperience) but it does look quite useful.
Knowing is half the battle
This is a great technique. I've been working on finishing the north/south for weeks (I really struggled) and finally achieved results. The six shooter really helps set it up.

I had problems getting this one to choke out in a Gi, anyone try it with pajamas on with success?

I got to hit the Hit button on this one! It is one of my favorite chokes!
i dont know why but i used to not understand this choke now im able to hit it.thanks to lock flow video you posted on robert drysdale north south choke
