slide lock kneebar
building further on the leg control positions article i wrote previously (http://lockflow.com/article_view.php?id=3801) and the follow up article on the safety catch i wrote (http://lockflow.com/article_view.php?id=4344), in this video i explain a fun option for when you lose the ankle after achieving position '4b' or 'the slide lock' as we like to call it.
(note: the number system and names for these positions are simply the for teaching method, and to make it easy to speak about leg control concisely when training. these numbers and names have no relevance outside of my club, and are in no way standard terminology for sambo or leg locks.)

kneebaaaaah
your foot has caught him in the safety position
he tries to roll the other way to relieve the pressure so you let go of his ankle and grab his other free ankle.
position both of your legs over his leg, now you are in the slide lock
but in doing so you some how lost the leg you were attacking, and it is no longer under your armpit. drat!
so you push his foot away from you as your pull your hips in tight and hold his leg still with yours, forcing a mean kneebar on the unfortunate fellow.

Excellent, thanks!
There's a bunch of stuff like this in Gene Lebells book. I always wondered how one might find themselves in that position.
Thanks for the road map.
figure 4!!!
Reilly-
i tried this technique tonight, and i caught the position, twice actually. i like the set up but when i went for the kneebar, i couldnt finsh it. since i was grappling no gi, i was curious, do the pants help a little bit with traction to help you finish, or am i messing up and missing something?

are you squeezing your knees together to stop them from rotating their leg to avoid the pressure. if you can keep their toes pointing away from you by squeezing your knees together it may help.
i love the over exaggerated looks on your face in the last two pics

Loving this one!
I have seen a similar knee bar from the reverse scarf position and also from a standing ankle lock when the free leg kicks at you, now I have one more way to add to my tool box!
Being attacked is like being asked a question- if you answer right you won't get asked anymore questions.
Thats awesome! I caught our resident brown belt with this. Can you do a toehold as well?
