Step Over Mount into Side Strangle

Here is a really high percentage technique that I love to use.

  • Parry the jab...
  • Knowing that Dustin has a pretty solid one-two combo, I parry his jab and time his rear hand...
  • Slip under rear straight
  • As he fires the rear hand, I slip under it, and dig my head up high into his armpit, preventing him from returning his shoulders to their original position. This helps me accomplish the takedown...
  • Body Lock and Leg Trap
  • I immediately trap his lead leg by steping around it with my rear, and lock his waist with my arms. I also continue to pressure his upper body towards his trapped (lead) leg.
  • Step Over into Mount
  • To take him down and gain mount I simply step wide around his rear leg as I continue to push him towards his lead.
  • Solidifying Mount
  • As we fall I wrap my left leg as close to his side as possible to prevent him from going to half-guard.
  • Neck Wrap
  • As quickly as possible I wrap his neck from the far side with my right hand...
  • Neck wrap, second angle
  • As you can see I really reach trhough, while keeping my head pinned close. Most of you already know how to do this!
  • Cup and Saucer
  • Finally, I use a Cup and Saucer grip (Fist in palm), slide my body to his side, flatten out, tighten my arms up, and inhale deeply! Voila, Step Over Mount to Side Strangle!
