Grappling Techniques

Transitional Chain Drill - Jason Scully

I have a video in this message where I show an example of a chain drill that we do at my academy and that I teach my students.  This is one of MANY chain transitional drills that we use. Which in my opinion are extremely important to practice.

Sit-Out Guillotine Choke

Great technique that can be applied standing or on your knees. Great to use after you defend a shot with double underhooks.

A Nice Arm Trap Reversal That Leaves Your Opponent Helpless

I enjoy tapping out someone as much as the next guy. I have to admit though, I think sweeps and reversal are more fun. Maybe it's like hunting, I like the experience of hunting more than I like the kill.

I also like Total hold downs, a position where your opponent's limbs are so wrapped up that they can't move or defense themselves. I dont have any siblings, but I feel like the total hold down is the adults version of sitting on your little brother's chest and arms and poking them him the forehead with your finger.

Keep Your Guard Alive With The 4 Lines Of Defense

Ok grapplers take a few minutes and stop practicing your Berimbolos and Tornado guards and refresh your game with some good solid fundamentals.

Matt Arroyo does a great job of presenting a systematic approach to preventing your opponent from passing your guard. I also think at the end of the video he tells us that we need to drink some Captain Morgan. I have always myself considered to be a good student and if Matt Arroyo says that drinking Captain Morgan will help my guard game, then gosh darn it... I'm gonna drink me some Captain Morgan.

Enjoy the video.

Knee Triangle Sweep

I have never personally hit this technique before, nor do most people I grapple with put their legs together in my guard. However, Ronda Rousey is demonstrating this technique so I thought it was worth putting it up. Your welcome Lockflow.

You can see more of Ronda Rousey on August 18 as she defends her bantamweight belt in Strikeforce against the former welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman.

Four submissions from half guard

Prof. Vinicius Pedrosa and Prof. Renato Migliaccio from Sampa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial arts demonstrate four ways to submit your opponent from half guard.

Four positions that you can add to your game and Improve.

Baseball Grip Takedown Series

Fight Trainer Erik Paulson Shares a few different takedowns (Low Leg Single, Cross Ankle Pick, Arm Drag/Jerk) off of a simple, easy to learn and use set up from the Baseball Grip.

You've got to love and appreciate how Sensei Paulson gives credit where credit is due.  Respect and honor... Pass it on!

Our friends over at Damage Control have provided us with this great video of the "Overhook Shoulder Lock", aka The "Frank Mir Lock/ Mir Lock". In this technique you will notice that the professor uses his foot on the hip rather than the shin across method. Try it out and report back to us as to your results.
