Inside Fighting has new Tito Ortiz Interview
Let’s start with the controversy. It is Tito Ortiz we are talking about, after all.
Leading up to the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy’s” July 7th bout with Rashad Evans on pay per view plenty of periphery issues have come up regarding Ortiz. First, and perhaps most serious, were comments that Ortiz made on a public online forum about Evans shortly after the fight was announced. Finding a strange way to keep things topical, Ortiz called Evans a woman and referred to him with the same derogatory term that disgraced radio show host Don Imus used in speaking about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team this past spring.
Evans, is in fact, not a woman and many immediately were offended that Ortiz used the racist phrase to hype up his fight with Evans, who is black. Ortiz, however, dismisses the notion that he is a racist and says that he never intended his internet post to be taken seriously.
“The UFC’s first woman fighter?” asks Ortiz rhetorically referring to the thread he made on “The Underground” online forum at www.MMA.tv.
“Yeah that was me that did that.

"One more item concerning Ortiz that has caused a stir, pre-fight, was the back and forth of whether or not UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture would be helping him in camp to prepare for the Evans fight. Ortiz had said publicly that Couture would be coming to his Big Bear, California training camp to help him get ready only to have Couture come out some time later and make a public statement to The Fight Network that not only would he not be doing that, but also that Couture did not want to be associated with Ortiz.
