guard

The guard is a ground grappling position where one combatant has their back to the ground, while attempting to control the other combatant using the legs. In pure grappling combat sports, the guard is considered an advantageous position, since the bottom combatant can attack with various joint locks and chokeholds, while the top combatant's priority is to transition into a more dominant position

A Nice Arm Trap Reversal That Leaves Your Opponent Helpless

I enjoy tapping out someone as much as the next guy. I have to admit though, I think sweeps and reversal are more fun. Maybe it's like hunting, I like the experience of hunting more than I like the kill.

I also like Total hold downs, a position where your opponent's limbs are so wrapped up that they can't move or defense themselves. I dont have any siblings, but I feel like the total hold down is the adults version of sitting on your little brother's chest and arms and poking them him the forehead with your finger.

Keep Your Guard Alive With The 4 Lines Of Defense

Ok grapplers take a few minutes and stop practicing your Berimbolos and Tornado guards and refresh your game with some good solid fundamentals.

Matt Arroyo does a great job of presenting a systematic approach to preventing your opponent from passing your guard. I also think at the end of the video he tells us that we need to drink some Captain Morgan. I have always myself considered to be a good student and if Matt Arroyo says that drinking Captain Morgan will help my guard game, then gosh darn it... I'm gonna drink me some Captain Morgan.

Enjoy the video.

Knee Triangle Sweep

I have never personally hit this technique before, nor do most people I grapple with put their legs together in my guard. However, Ronda Rousey is demonstrating this technique so I thought it was worth putting it up. Your welcome Lockflow.

You can see more of Ronda Rousey on August 18 as she defends her bantamweight belt in Strikeforce against the former welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman.

*VIDEO* My Go-To Submission

I have mentioned before that I am a big fan of specializing

As the saying goes, "A Jack of all trades is a master of none."

I have been working on this particular technique for over 6 years now, and I am still making breakthroughs!

If you know me, then you it's name - the Kimura.

At a first glance, the Kimura is a very basic, white belt technique.

Omoplata to Foot Lock with Dan Strauss 'The Raspberry Ape'

I have to admit, this is the first time i've heard of 'The Raspberry Ape' aka Dan Strauss. I guess it's kind of a cool nickname. I wonder why he went with raspberry? I know that 'grape' has already been used, but what about 'cherry ape' or better yet, 'pomegranate ape'? Anyway, check out these options from the omoplata position.

The peach slice from guard
