I've never been a huge fan of ties. I think my dislike of them stems from when I wore one to my cousins wedding when I was younger. I tied the knot wrong and almost strangled myself. Ever since then I've been uneasy with anything around my neck. Thats why I wear wife beaters, V-necks and very loose gold chains. 

Lockflow favorite Brandon Quick taught at a seminar in Dallas, Texas and taught the russian tie to inside trip to darce choke. This is a tie I might be able to handle. The Darce however is another story.

I have a student of mine that has been with me for over a decade now that is somewhat of a legend at FFA. He is not your ordinary student - he is different.

He moves awkwardly, he goes for weird submissions that no one else does, and reacts in completely unexpected ways. 

He is called Mantequilla, which means butter in Spanish. He gave himself this nickname when he left a drunken voicemail to my academy.

Monday's suck. However, hopefully these three moves which include an ankle lock, a takedown and a back attack from the boys at advantage MMA will help the day go by better. The Suplex is one of the most beautiful throws someone can land in a match. I've been caught in the throw once from a 4 time state champion and it was a rough one, lol.

Takedowns are the missing element for many grapplers, so we should all pay attention to this takedown lesson from 5-1 team Alpha Male fighter T.J. Dillashaw.

This is a great way of finishing the double leg after getting stuck on your knees after the initial shot. It is my go-to finish against guys who have strong hips...
