Lockflow interviews Mario Miranda

Lockflow.com sponsored fighter Mario Miranda sat down with Lockflow before taking off to the World Championships in California. We talked with Mario about his win at GQ, his experience in Abu Dhabi and his undefeated MMA record.

Lockflow: Mario, thanks for taking the time to speak with lockflow. Congrats on your win at Grapplers Quest in Vegas in the expert division.

Mario Miranda: Thank You!

Lockflow: You have competed twice in grappling events, what did you think of the Grapplers Quest promotion?

Mario: Actually, I've competed in other grappling tournaments, but they weren't quite as big as Abu Dhabi or Grapplers Quest - I was surprised with the number of participants at Grapplers Quest, but many big names didn't show up because there was no money prize for the division winners.

Lockflow: How was you competition in Vegas?

Mario: It was a really good experience, I dominated my preliminary match. In the final, my opponent pushed the pace and I felt rally tired, but I surprised him with a takedown.

Lockflow: You made you submission competition debut at Abu Dhabi facing both Dysdale (Absolute winner) and Marcelo Garcia (Division winner) in your two matches. Do you think that competing with that level of grapplers helped you to better prepare for grapplers quest?

Mario: No question about it, those guys are the best in the business. They surprise you with their quickness, and that's what I've been trying to do since.

Lockflow: What and Where is your next event?

Mario: December 15, I'll be competing at the No-Gi World Championships, In Long Beach, California

Lockflow: You also have a Undefeated MMA record (5-0) what kind of competition do you like competing in more?

Mario: I Like MMA better than grappling, but wrestling is up there next to MMA.

Lockflow: That's right, you have a pretty extensive wrestling background, can you tell us about it?

Mario: I was 4 times Brazilian Champion both in freestyle and Greco-Roman. I was also South American Champion in both styles and placed in the pan american games. My big frustration was never being in the Olympic games.

Lockflow: what goals would you like to accomplish in MMA?

Mario: Everybody wants to fight at the UFC..., and I'd love to fight those that made history in the sport like Sakuraba, Anderson Silva, etc..
