Nate Diaz Competed In A Super Fight Last Saturday And Lockflow Has The Video

UFC lightweight fighter Nate Diaz took on BJJ Black Belt Oswaldo Queixinhoin a at the 2012 Gracie Open in a Superfight match.

In the match Nate goes for a half guard attack to the legs and is swiftly countered by Oswaldo, in an interview with GracieMag, Queixinhoin talks about his match.

“I’d learned that footlock technique from Caio Terra and Samir Chantre, since it’s really common at our weight; I just think I surprised him with my counter-attack”... “The secret is to do a good job of defending before attacking. I always look to hide my foot before attacking,”... “If you pay attention, I trap his opposing leg with my legs, and after that I set up my hold on his foot, first grabbing the tip of his foot in a “monkey” [thumbless] hold, and after that I wrap my arm around the leg. I get the tapout by pushing his toe to the side opposite the trapped leg,”

Man for years I've been listening to people talk about how the Diaz brothers have some of the best Jiu Jitsu in the World.  Good to see I was right all along, and everyone else was about as wrong as could be.  Estime, Marcelo, that's world class... Diaz from the "209" smoking the reefer all day, not so much.

Everyone gets caught sometimes.  Besides, there is a difference between BJJ for MMA and sport BJJ (and both can be equally enjoyed at the same time without one being "better").  Nate will just take it as a learning experience and train even harder.

Not taking away from Oswaldo, though... that footlock was beautiful.  I can visualize it from his description, but does anyone have a breakdown of it in video format they could post?

Most people consider the Diaz's to be the best jiujitsu players in mma and with Nate having 11 victories via submission its hard to disagree.  Everyone gets caught and he just happened to get caught by a 2x Brazilian National champ.  Hardly a reason to dismiss his skills.  Plus he's only been a black belt for 4 months, Oswaldo has been competing at the black belt level for a few years now.

11th dan in Parnes Jiu-Jitsu, it's one more than Ransom's. Real PJJ goes to 11!

The Diaz brothers have great jui jitsu, but I still don't say they are the best even in mma because of fighters like Demian Maia, the Nogueira brothers, Frank Mir, Palhares and probably a few more that I am forgetting about.  They excell in mma because they are well rounded and have great conditioning, not because they are the best at any one part of fighing.
