Sonnen was woopin that ass! Way to drop the ball Rosenthal! I want to see a rematch! Thiago looked like crap...that weight cut must have been hell. Too long of a lay off. Great night of fights though. And Big Country and Dos Santos both have iron jaws. Hell of a fight.

I dont even care that Sonnon lost...he destroyed the air of mystique around Silva. He was right he was the one swinging the hammer!
Never argue with an idiot, cause he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience
Sonnen talked all that trash....... and backed it up!!! Silva did spend more time on his back than a hooker with a mortgage!
Noticed somthing different about Silva and I came up with a theroy, He walked out in his gi (i'm not sure if thats a regular thing for him). So My theroy is this...Look at him when he is on the bottom taking those shots, he was eating like they weren't doing much dammage, and setting up wrist controll. I think that when Sonnen called his black belt into question he decided to submit him, which explains his less than stellar takedown defence...and why he walked out in his gi. I mean dont get me wrong, I could be mistaken but me and my friends were asking ourselves if he was playing possum..kinda like rope-a-doping Sonnen a little bit.

Interesting theory. Not sure if I buy it, but interesting none the less. If he was playing possum on his back, he should win an academy award because he did a great job. I do think that he really was looking for a submission win. Regardless of if he got stompped for the first four rounds, he showed why he was the champ by pulling off the win in the end. Good fight.

That whole fight was interesting to me. Silva never looked like he was even touched. He walked out looking the same as he walked in. Sonnen was beat up.
I feel like Silva knew he was going to win going into the 5th. He just exuded confidence the entire time.

What hammer was Chael swinging???? I think 'swinging a pillow' would be a more accurate description. 289? come on. Wish he would have won the fight and I am a fan but damn. I don't think Silva had some master plan to sub him or win in the 5th. He looked pretty desperate to me toward the end. But he won.
Heard silva had back injury during training
@Bruceleeroy...You don't want to join in our conspiricy theories? I do think Silva got man handled. He might not have gotten pounded, but he had someone else impose their will on him. And I do agree that he look pretty desperate in the 5th looking for the sub.

Struve showed he can definitely swim in the deep end of the pool. This kid's no fluke!
Dos Santos showed Nelson that cardio and a proper body composition are indeed a necessary ingredient to be considered as a professional heavyweight in the cage.
Alves showed us that failing to make weight for your chosen profession can not only hurt your net worth and career, but your feelings too.
Hughes showed us that he actually CAN box. And how 'bout that old school, arm in, front naked for the finish!
Last, but definitely not least, Sonnen showed us that
Silva actually IS from the planet Earth.
Great night of fights!
