Cobrinha BJJ 7 Volume DVD Set with Rubens Charles

I recently received this DVD set in the mail featuring Rubens Charles "Cobrinha" - The 3 time BJJ world champion and 2 time nogi world. At first I was worried that although being mostly a guard player, the techniques would either be too advanced for me, or meant for someone more of Cobrinha's stature. Luckily, my worries were unwarranted.

This DVD set is fantastic, with simple beginner techniques, to highly advanced techniques meant for the more advanced BJJ player.

The set is broken down into volumes by guard style, pass defense, and one volume strictly for the Omoplata. In order the volumes are, Closed Guard, Butterfly guard , Half Guard, Spider guard, Defending the Double underhooks pass, Inverted guard, and the Omoplata.

Most of the techniques are easy to learn, but the instruction moves very quickly so this may not be the best DVD set to be for a really green BJJ player. Or someone that either hasn't found his own style yet, or does not fully understand the more advanced guard types. (e.g. Inverted Guard)

The production of all the volumes was excellent, with well spoken and understandable commentary and instruction, as well as slick image introductions for each technique. Theres also footage of Cobrinha pulling off some of the techniques taught in competition.

One of the criteria I judge a BJJ or grappling dvd by is if there is material within the DVD that is immediately able to be implemented into your game. Astonishingly there are quite a few techniques that can be directly inserted into your game successfully.

This set is a great investment for ANY guard player, or top player trying to learn more about the guard and pick up some new tricks.
