When I think of legends, I think of folks that have also innovated the sport. Guy's that changed the game and moved it forward with technigue, training, and sometimes personality. I would also add a willingness to step out of your normal weightclass as well. Think of boxers that truly left their mark- they won titles at 3-4 different weight classes.
People might say Mark Coleman is a legend, just because you were first to win a few in a sport doesn't mean you are a legend. You can say Brock Lesnar is just a faster, bigger version of him. To me, the Mark Coleman's of the world are not legends.
Lyota has morphed traditional karate into MMA. GSP has brought training and technical focus to MMA. BJ has brought a willingness to move up and down weight classes to fight the best. All of these are legends.
Jimmy, I defended you on the Karate Kid but I can't on Big Nog. Shame on you.
By the way, Freddy Krueger called. He wants his sweater back.
big nog is not a legend? what? WHAT?!
i don't know about you, jimmy dent. this is far, far worse than "karate kid-gate."
nog satisfies your requirement for legend: he has a compelling narrative--he was run over by a freaking tractor as a kid (it might have been a truck, i don't remember--the point is it was big and heavy) and was on death's door, but he came back to become the second best heavyweight EVA.
no one has taken the abuse nog has and still has found a way to win. he is who ivan drago was actually talking about in rocky IV: "it's like hitting a piece of iron."
in short, i'm right and you're wrong. niener niener niener nah nah ah boo boo.

Who was laughing at you, Lion? I laughed that Jimmy jumped back to viewer at the end of the episode, if that's what you mean. It was in no way laughing at your question.
-Marshal
I don't know why are you laughing at me, but it was rude man. He said he was in Budapest and i asked a question.
hard sparring session is like a cold shower in a warm day. It feels good.
As far as who qualifies as a legend, I think Big Nog was a legend before he even came to the UFC. I think to be a legend it's largely based on the opinions of the other fighters in you're era. Couture is a legend because the guys he fights believe he's a legend, and treat him as one. Also, I think longevity is important, and you ned to have so clearly indendefiable moments in your career, when people hear your name, they need to have an image that comes up, I hear the name Wandy, and I can clearly see him throwing Rampage across the bottom rope, everyone remembers the soccer kicks and stomps he killed guys with. This is all IMO, but that's how I see it.
