Cage Punch
![]() |
The cage punch is a option when you find yourself forced against a cage/wall and your opponent is standing infront of you. Here is a video of Sally practicing on a mitt. for the Step by Step see below....

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4
Sally is forced against the Wall/Cage and Issac is standing in front of her
Sally places her right foot against the Wall/Cage
Sally spots her target, in this case it's Issac's chin
pushing off the wall, and hopping forward with her left foot, Sally jumps forward and throws a right punch to Issac's chin

nice
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"
That's f@#kin sick... LMAO!!!!
wow, 5 stars from sergio!!!!
Has anyone tried that against a cage? I'm wondering if it would give too much against the pushoff. Maybe it might actually help with the "springiness," though.

nice one, might give you that extra leverage while on the cage.

ISAAC IS HUGE!!!
I did that off of a seven-eleven,works nice if it lands.
seven eleven, is that a measurement of a cage wall or a mini market?
Well off a wall it works nice but off a fence not so well.the fence has to much give.
very cool, will have to use when i get back up
Never argue with an idiot, cause he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience
a padded wall is very solid.
a fence, however, would be very different...
A cage don't flex that much!! I can see this working!!
(A cage don't flex that much)????
What cage have you fought in?
you could do it. It would be unexpected. and hey you could even jump off and do some kind of flying super kick
Franklin Roosevelt once said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Well guess what, i am fear.
I haven't fought in one since '99, but my guys fight in them all the time. From home made to custom. Acage only gives slightly.. then the mesh fence locks out at full extension and become quite firm!!! Now a fence around a school.... gives like crazy cause it's one long piece of mesh. A cage is... usually is... made in sections. Did that make sense? I was trying to sound all technical and s@#t!! LOL!!
Sometimes it's quite springy!! Kyle Blatter likes to bounce guys off of it for take downs. We call it the Blatter Bounce!!!
I have fought in a few cages, and when I fought in WEC #2, the cage was very ridged.
I like it! I always wondered why more fighters don't utilize this. especially in clinch situations when your back is on the cage....... Instead of wasting energy looking for the hip throw or even just muscleing them to the ground, I think it would be good to get a little boost style takedown
lol lockflow has its own tank abbott! savage. you did that off the window of a 7-11? lol!
"Seven Eleven" I remember that,Robs face will never be the same.
ya i've also thought about pushing off the cage when clinching with someone... i wonder why no one has done this
There's no such thing as 'just a game'
Do you want to be a champion?
I think it would still work, obviously not as great as a padded wall but still good and can help for a punch and then clinch.
"ya i've also thought about pushing off the cage when clinching with someone... i wonder why no one has done this"
kenny florian teaches this for when someone squishes you against the cage. you kick out on the underhook side and use momentum to spin opponent into cage.
i love it im gonna go find a seven -11 to stand in front of!
nice bruise on Sally's leg..is that from a prior achilles lock? ha ha.
Hey Sally, your old instructor Mike Frison says Hi! He's in town over the holidays.
very interesting. would it be legal in boxing to do this from a post?
Neo, that is an interesting question...
Speaking of Sergio's Blatter Bounce... I have often wondered while watching fights in the cage if takedowns could be used off the cage. Well, actually a takedown if someone clinched with you and started pushing you towards the cage and then right before your back hit you were to jump up and plant your feet off the cage and bounce off. Woo!!! I'm not an English buff or nothing but I think that was the longest run-on sentence ever ;-p
Just the facts maam.
slick move going to have to try it

Awesome, I'm going to have to look at that in training. Our cage is flexible as hell though, maybe the posts... Of course maybe it's just flexing because I'm 225 and using it like ropes ;p
I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu

it look like it'll work. I'll just have to make sure my opponent doesn't push or punch me when i am in the the middle of the move.
"Come on, you sons of bitches! Do you want to live forever?"
In my experience, cages are like heavy bags. No two are the same. Some are quite rigid while others bow and flex. Some curve out toward the bottom and others don't.
So it pays to do a little research and check out the cage a little before you plan on the tactics you use.
One thing that is consistent though, in my humble opinion, are the cage posts. If you bounce off of them or use them to push off of, most times, they tend to stay behind you.
Awesome technique, like all the others, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

If he says so, then it must be the case. He probably knows better. Let him try to take advantage of it, and And I will do my thing
