Fred Is Holding Pads for Larkin. When holding pads Fred keeps his hands down and moves around the gym. At the same time Larkin keeps within striking distance with his hand always up and defending.
Larkin throws a Jab Cross combo. Note the hand is always up defending.
And the Cross...
Again Fred lowers his pads and moves around, Larkin has his hands up ready to strike as soon as Fred brings the pads up. This time however Fred throws in a body shot.
Larkin counters instantly with an uppercut.

Very well presented technique, you showed more than the technique- you also showed why it happens and how you and your partner should drill it.

we've been drilling this...i like how it builds an auto response
Excellent Boxing!
You should always return an uppercut from the same side as a body hook.
Chances are they guy will be lazy bringing the hook back and you'll get him.

Seen Duane Ludwig doing this drill.
Pad holder can throw either body shot and you respond with same side uppercut then follow up with hook/cross. I have all my guys do this, its a good drill and you can mix it into your pad work easily.

Ah, a classic counter. The only thing I would correct is when you throw your uppercut, dont shoot your arm up too high. This has to do with the pad holder as well who in this instance is holding the pad way too high.
1. A person's chin is never going to be as high as where the pad is.
2. When you overshoot an uppercut there is a tendency to lift your chin as well, leaving yourself to a hook counter.
3. When you overshoot an uppercut you leave your body open to a hook to the body counter.
Just my 2 cents.

im diggin the technique
I remember a move simular to that for a round house kick counter. Benny "The Jet", taught it at a seminar eons ago.

"at" is correct, they are exaggerting this drill, it would be better if he stayed in close for the uppercut and bent the knees more. It takes a lot of practice to throw consecutive punches from the same side like this, the same applies to a single or double jab/left hook series, it offsets the momentum of your hips/waist so being able to execute short, straight line, snapped or bursting punches is extremely beneficial to the success of this drill.
