Elbow Form
Here is a pattern that trains 5 angles of elbows, I can't remember where I learned this drill - I think it was from Matt Hume at AMC Pankration.
Here is Lockflow Capt. Slick demonstrating the form and also on the Mitts:
-
Step 1
-
Step 2
-
Step 3
-
Step 4
-
Step 5
-
Step 6
-
Step 7
-
Step 8
-
Step 9
I start in a basic fighting stance
Pushing my left shoulder forward, I drive the outside blade of my lead forearm/elbow straight forward - like a jab with the flat of my arm
Bringing my left arm back to protect my face, I bring my right elbow down in a quick slashing manner
I twist to the right bringing my right hand up to protect my face as I slice my left elbow horizontally to the right
I drop my left arm down across my chest
Stepping forward with my left leg (not pictures) I drive my left elbow upward
I step across with my left foot
Pivoting on my left foot and turning my left knee in towards the right leg, I spin and look over my right shoulder
I finish the elbow form by dropping the right elbow downward - finishing with the spinning elbow

Comments
i love spinning elbows, they flow so nice, one of my favs is jab, right elbow to left spinning elbow, straight right, i know the range is off but.... nothing like deceptive range changes!

Very nice combo.
noobcakefighter -All you do is to the upward back elbow, then do the same thing but bring it across, then use your other arm to do the same thing. It's really not that hard, practice it a couple times and once you figure it out, It will be easy as pie.

This is the way I normally perform elbow strikes but I was at a seminar with Arjarn Chai of TBA (Thai Boxing Assoc) recently and he said that while executing elbows, the opposite arm should be tight in against the body to defend against knee strikes with the hand covering the forehead.....
Great shadow fighting technique this one is really helping me with elbow strikes. Thanks Chaz...
This is awesome, thanks nice combo!
a little vitamin E! haha i love it!
keep your enemies close...keep your elbows closer
-or marcelo will break them.
+1 bitman..However, Ajarn made that change only about 2 years ago. It's interesting how other Thai camps do their elbows. Some camps want the opposite hand at your jaw. While Ajarn wants it at the forehead to block an arm insert and counter elbow.
Any chance of getting a video of this? or a gif if possible

If he says so, then it must be the case. He probably knows better. Let him try to take advantage of it, and And I will do my thing
Ill try to remember to get it for you!
Gorgeousgeorge, I added a video for you today....
Awesome, and thank you very much for the video. I was having a hard time picturing the transition from 3-4. Thanks again!

Thunder, I remember when Ajarn changed the placement of the hand on the forehead one or two inches further to the side to account for when fighters are wearing boxing gloves. Then later he started showing the palm on the forehead method as a variation. It's cool to see the art living and improving.
I like the video and drill, I have not seen this before. a comment on the videography itself, it would be nice to have the elbow drill done a little more slowly once or twice, and from other camera angles. anyway, great stuff, thank you I will practice this as I love elbows and this gives me some new elbows to work on, as I've only really used 6,3, & 4.
Nice video. Remind me never to fight Sally again...
