Here is the basic number system we use for Kickboxing techniques at our gym. I don't think is is unique as many gyms use the same system, I originally learned it from Matt Hume at AMC.
Here is a video of Lockflow member "Slick" demonstrating the system - the sound is a little off, but you should be able to follow along.

this is great for keeping everyone on the same page, and calling out combos.
nice stuff.
I love this system. But I am curious to know what other systems are out there, I just can't think of anything better than this one. Odd numbers left side, even numbers right side.

Yeah we use a number system in our gym, but its the Dutch combination system. Its just combos 1-5 with added commands like, roll, cover, kick, knee etc. It makes for real good fast pad work.
That probably makes no sense but i'll post more soon.

others I have seen have 4 as the right/left cross instead of having you do a hook. The 9 and the 10 in a few other systems I have trained in are neck/head kicks(for interm.-advance students) instead of to the body. It's a good tool for beginners when you can say stuff like "1, 2, 9" or "2, 3, 2" etc. while holding pads. In the ring it helps but your opponent's corner will figure out what your strategy is if you always use the ol' 1-10 system.
Keep training and enjoy what you do.
Yeah we do #4 as a straight right, and just call out knees and whatever kicks we want off of the punches before the combo ever starts. We alos have gym authentic combo names like "the jackhammer", which would be 1,2,3,rearuppercut, leaduppercut,2,3,2,3 and everyone in our gym knows what it means.

oh... AND UNDERS!!!!
I have heard of a Judo club that uses a numbering system, then they can call out combos without the opposition knowing what they are saying.
Being attacked is like being asked a question- if you answer right you won't get asked anymore questions.
Damn I miss drilling...
Hhhhhhello?
yeah, we use cung le's number system at remix, were the number you say is how many punches you throw, and the mitt you show is what punch you start with. in this system you always go in jab, cross, hook, upercut order. this is a good system when you have students feeding eachother, so they can learn the basics of feeding without making up goofy combinations and confusing eachother. for more advanced students we let them feed eachother more unique strings.
at my gym number 7 and 8 are lead knee rear knee respectively but besides that its same
It's all a puzzle, isn't it, Joseph? Like a game of chess, perhaps. The pieces move, apparently aimlessly, but always towards one single objective: to kill the king. But who is the king in this game, Joseph? That is the question you must ask yourself.
thank you very much

I like this a lot. I'm going to try and implement this into my class.
