Lead Thrust Kick to Body Kick
![]() |
The thrust kick or 'teep' kick in Muay Thai is a great kick for stopping an aggressive opponent or knocking your opponent back. In this demonstration, Landon Showalter uses the thust kick to step up another kick to the body, the step by step is below this training video:

Landon and I square off
Landon feels me coming in to deliver a technique
Landon puts his weight on his rear leg and lifts his lead leg, thrusting his hips forward he thrusts his left foot into my belly, which stops the momentum of my attack
preparing for his next kick, London lands out to his left with his kicking leg
Using the momentum of his landing, Landon drives his right shin bone into my ribs

Good kick.
Good kicks. Just make sure to put your hips into both kicks for more power.

i'm gonna use it the next time I spar. Love it
Never argue with an idiot, cause he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience
love it
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"
This combo can also be done from the other side. That's the cool thing about this combo - if your opponent is being aggressive, you can push him off with the lead leg leg then do some damage with the rear leg. Or, you can do the push kick with the rear leg to push your opponent back and then do some damage with a lead leg roundhouse. Good stuff.
I like this combo, it just flows to so well.
this is also a good way to counter a incoming low kick.
it's unusual to see the teep in ufc...
The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

The teep to the opponents hip is often not seen but one of my favorite techniques
I pray, do yoga, meditate and still want to smack people
(Right handed) I like to use the rear leg teep to left round combo as well. It really sets up the right cross to the bent over exposed guy
.
I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu
