Technical Sparring by Bellator Fighters Luis Bertao Nogueira and Junior PQD DaSilva

This is how Nogueira uses the tools sharpened in technical sparring

Here is a short clip with Bellator Tournament fighters Junior PQD DaSilva and Luis Berato Nogueira.

In this clip they show at what intensity to sparr for technical purposes. This type of sparring should be done almost everyday to get technique repetitions and movement patterns offense as well as defense.

Great Vidoe. The topic of light sparring is something I've talked about numerous times in myblog and recently put up a similar video with some narrative coaching overlayed.

Thanks Bill! great addition.

Thanks Bill, i am glad there is more folks out there sharing this opinion. In our case it all comes from Thailand where guys faught as often as they could and therefore hard sparring (with gear) was a ones a month thing. It seemed more important to daily work on your patterns, angles, counters and defenses. And fact is if you sparr hard you get hit but you dont have time or the opportunity to figure out what went wrong and therefore i prefer this method. That been said a few times here and there hard sparring should be in any preparation. Thanks again guys and keep watching Ty

Perfect! Like the BJJ relaxed lockflow, but for standup Smile

Ps. Wish I could engraine this into young fighters more easily Tongue

I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu

Dave, with young ones or "hot heads" i use bareknuckle sparring drill where no protective eqipment is used and they learn relly quick to play nice. Bottom line all these young ones and their high dollar shinguards causes them to throw legkicks like they go out of style or something. No set ups or anything, take the pads away and it becomes technical and caluculated Wink. Pros wear pads Ammy's dont lol

Thunder,

Spot on! Our muay thai instructor trains in Thailand 2x a year with some of the top fighters, maybe even the top fighter of his era, Saenchai, and if there's one thing he does it's "play" spar.
